Highland Fling - Outfit 29th Oct 2010

I'm currently planning an xmas shopping extravaganza in Edinburgh when term finishes - otherwise known as a two day trip up on the train, staying overnight in a funky hotel and seeing some sights with my mum... and probably (ok, definitely) bankrupting myself in the process. This inspired me (the trip, not the bankruptingness) to nab this gorgeous Warehouse Check Kilt, £40 on a recent jaunt into Nottingham. I'd seen it in a fashion mag a while ago and had been keeping my beady eyes open for it ever since. It's a traditional pleated style in green, blue and a little dash of red, and most importantly is a slightly big Size 12 (go me!!!)

I wanted to rock a bright flash of red on top, so I chose my Topshop Knitted Pointelle Stitch Top, £35, which I tucked in (not too tight for a bit of volume) and pulled together with a Topshop Bobble Detail Elastic Belt, £12, through the skirt loops.

Black tights finished it all off, plus this Westwood Rocks Endless Oval Ringed Pearls Necklace, £48, which I got for £2 in one of their secret sales! Bargain. Check out my earlier post for more details on this quirky jewellery company.

I'm all ready for my trip now - I just have to get round to actually booking a hotel!

Va Va Voom Vision

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of posting recently, I've been uber-stressed about my teacher training applications. But I did find time to choose a brand new pair of designer specs. I was reading a piece on Andrew Garfield, the hunky new actor who's starring in the new film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's hit novel, Never Let Me Go, alongside Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan - it mentioned his previous job in Starbucks, which he took to meet geeky girls in thick, black framed glasses. This got me thinking. Maybe quirking up my image with some fierce frames instead of contact lenses might attract the right sort of male attention (i.e. serious but sexy types). Hmm. So I went into Specsavers and selected this Tommy Hilfiger pair straight away. The shape is really flattering and the silver detailing on the sides is chic yet stylish. Yay!

Animal Magic

Just a quick one to shout out about one of my fave new purchase. It ticks sooo many new season trends, starting with the animal / leopard print craze that's so hot, followed closely by the camel tone fad. This TOPSHOP Knitted Animal Dress, £42, is super soft, and unlike many of this season's knitwear pieces won't spark off my allergies as it's neither wool nor bitty (atchooo!). I didn't realise it was a dress when I bought it, but it's just the right length to be worn with black tights.

I wore it for the first time around Uni yesterday, and felt stylish yet not over the top for campus dressing. To make sure I had a visible waistline (wouldn't want to put all that hard work losing 2 stone to waste!) I added an aged-effect, dark brown, rope twist look belt, also from TOPSHOP (yes, I did indeed keep them in wages for until xmas - shame!), looped through and down as is the trend.

I thought I looked pretty fab actually, with patent black flats and my aviator, along with my slouchy studded FCUK bag (see earlier posts)! Sometimes I feel like I've tried a bit too hard just to sit in the library but I felt really comfy in this.

Now what on earth shall I wear tomorrow...

Birthday Outfit - 03/10/2010

I can't believe how manic the first couple of weeks back at Uni have been! It's all got a bit too serious for my liking. I finally submitted my teacher training application yesterday, after agonising over my personal statement for weeks. Just have to wait now...!
So, Sunday was my 22nd birthday (arghh, old age!), and my family went for a lovely meal, then to see Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat - Keith Jack, runner up in the BBC's Any Dream Will Do, was totally amazing. I wore this brand new French Connection Maxi Dress, £60, with a plunging neckline, no sleeves, and a blue floral print.

I wasn't sure at first about continuing the maxi dress trend into autumn, but the muted, cool print of this dress had me hooked. It was really easy to wear with my aviator jacket, and will also look fab with this Navy Mixed Fabric Ruffle Cardi, now £30 in the sale (doesn't it drive you mad when something you haven't worn yet goes into the sale!)

I teamed my dress with these New Look Cutout Court Shoes, £10, a wide fit, ribbon tie, navy shoe with the 'in' midi heel. Perfect for not getting caught up in my dress, but still adding some height.

I had a fabulous birthday, which made up for the shambles that was my 21st, when I was in hospital the week before and had to cancel my planned London extravaganza! Hope you like my outfit, please comment and follow!

Outfit - 01/10/10

Just a quick one as its my birthday tomorrow - I've got to get all my Uni work done today so I can go out and have fun! This was the outfit I wore yesterday for an early b'day meal with a friend. I wore it with my Topshop aviator and black patent ballet pumps from Faith. Eagle eyed readers will spot the Miss Selfridge suede shorts from my last post, worn with a bargain £5.99 H&M leopard print tee over an ASOS cream lace body, topped with an Oasis chunky bead necklace and my new Accessorize leopard print scarf. I thought the brown tones all worked well together, and the two clashing prints were complementary. Hope you like!
